From a visionary small food and wine tasting to the current top-tier social event that supports award-winning art education at a Texas cultural icon, La Dolce Vita has come a long way.
La Dolce Vita has from its inception supported the museum’s innovative education programs, including a broad range of accessible, interdisciplinary, and hands-on activities for schoolchildren, families, and adults. At its vital Art School, The Contemporary Austin offers almost 600 informal classes per annum to students age 4 through adult, providing scholarships to those in family crisis and economic need. Over 6,000 children (over half of which attend Title 1 schools) take guided museum tours with follow-up art activities. Our popular family program, Second Saturdays Are for Families, reaches 2,000 children and adults, and provides affordable art-making activities for our community. Over 4,500 adults attend diverse public programs that include lectures, films, and performances at both the downtown Jones Center and historic lakeside Laguna Gloria.
Now, it’s time to celebrate this romantic event’s 25th anniversary. Please join The Contemporary Austin in commemorating our two and a half decades of giving Central Texas a unique array of art experiences at the 2014 La Dolce Vita, and help us support engaging educational and art programs in our community.
