Fine Woodworking Basics

This class covers the fundamentals of fine woodworking and is the perfect course for those with no experience who want to learn their way around the wood shop. The vehicle for this journey is through the conception and creation of a decorative wood flower vase with optional resin inlay. Learn the properties of wood, proper and safe usage of hand and power tools, clamping, gluing, veneering, sanding, oil finishing, and more. No experience is necessary, but students should be comfortable learning to use hand and power tools, including the jointer, planer, table saw, miter saw, band saw, routers, and sanders. Though there will be a basic vase design to work from, students will be encouraged to express their own creative voice.
