Metalworking 2.0

Adults

Learn how to use line and volume as composition tools to create abstract, referential, figurative sculptures. Welding techniques will be expanded upon to include the use of jigs and clamps, as well as learning to compensate for heat distortion. Introduction to plasma cutting will also be taught in this class.

Other topics include: Abrasives and surface treatments, patinas and protective coatings, as well as the use and weldability of found objects. Students must have previously completed Beginning Metalworking, or have prior metalworking experience (contact the Office to discuss).

All supplies provided! Please wear appropriate clothes for an art studio. Closed-toe shoes and long pants are required for wood, metal, stone, or other sculpture classes. Eye and ear protection is provided, but some students prefer to bring their own which you are welcome to do.
