The Something Weird Mixtape with Mark Mothersbaugh

Nudie noir! Classroom dementia! LSD gore-blasts! Founded in 1990 by the late Mike Vraney, Something Weird Video has served as a guiding hand for movie enthusiasts who want more out of life. The Something Weird Mixtape is a senses-shattering celebration of Vraney’s legacy, a visual collage comprising film clips, trailers, loops, and ephemera that represents the dubious triumphs, perilous anomalies, and flat-out wildness of the Something Weird mindscape.

Joining us for this once-in-a-lifetime experience is Something Weird friend Mark Mothersbaugh, who contributes unheard recordings to this de-evolution of cinema. A discussion with Mothersbaugh will follow the screening.

Co-presented by the American Genre Film Archive and The Contemporary Austin on the occasion of the art exhibition Mark Mothersbaugh: Myopia, on view February 13 – April 17, 2016.
