    Art School

    The acclaimed Art School at Laguna Gloria offers classes for ages four through adult in painting, drawing, ceramics, printmaking, photography, sculpture, digital media, and more. Summer 2019 registration begins Friday, February 22!

    About

    The Contemporary Austin values its 38-year-old docent program as an important contribution to the Austin community. Our volunteer docents lead conversational tours at the Jones Center downtown and at the Betty and Edward Marcus Sculpture Park at Laguna Gloria on Lake Austin. Both locations feature rotating exhibitions and permanent installations of dynamic contemporary art, unique architectural elements, and rich historical narratives.

    • Monthly trainings focusing on tour techniques, art history, and discussions
    • Visits to artists’ studios and collectors’ homes
    • Opportunity to learn how to look at art and how to talk about contemporary art
    • Chance to meet others who enjoy looking at and talking about art

    Requirements

    • Current member of The Contemporary Austin
    • Two-year commitment
    • Minimum of 4 hours a month set aside for training
    • Minimum of 12 tours/year
